2017 Toronto Protest aginst the Dog and Cat Meat Trade

Last Saturday we had our 2nd protest against Korea’s dog and cat meat trade in Toronto. It was a hot summer day, yet many supporters showed up to raise their voices for the poor and voiceless in Korea. Boknal starts on July 12 and lasts until August 11 and during that time over one million dogs are brutally slaughtered. We thank everyone who joined us and participated in the movement for compassionate living.

Our protest continues from July 27 (Thursday) to the last day of Boknal at Korean Consulate in Toronto (555 Avenue Rd.).

Originally from South Korea, EK moved to Canada in 2002. Despite a career in visual media, her passion for advocating for vulnerable animals grew stronger. Volunteering with local rescues like Toronto Street Cats, she felt a deeper calling. Everything changed during a visit to her family in Korea when she witnessed the harsh truth of the dog meat trade's cruelty towards defenseless dogs. This experience led to the birth of Free Korean Dogs, driven by her mission to raise public awareness and protect these animals.
