Current Volunteer Opportunities
Duties and Responsibilities:
Working closely with the organization’s Board of Directors and Administrative Officer, the Freedom Walk Coordinator will assist in the following areas:
- Leads the planning and coordination of Free Korean Dogs’ annual Freedom Walk event
- Plan and develop a schedule for the day’s event (engaging activities for the event participants, raffles, etc.)
- Brainstorm fun and engaging fundraising ideas to promote donations
- Implement fundraising strategies and incentives to promote donations
- Build and maintain relationships with local businesses
- Liaise with sponsors for prize and item donations
- Organize prizes and raffle items
- Coordinate logistics of event materials to and from the event site
- Responsible for ensuring event supplies are on-site for event day (which may include pop-up banners, leaflets, foldable tables and chairs, posters, playpens, crates, and FKD merchandise)
- Secure snacks and refreshments for event day
- Contribute to social media promotional and marketing materials
- Liaise with FKD adopters and the local community for participation and engagement
Role Requirements:
- Access to a vehicle and the ability to travel to event sites within Toronto/GTA
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Prior experience in fundraising and/or event planning an asset
- Ability to commit to the role on an approximately 6-month basis, from March to September each year.
- Commitment of 2-3 hours per week, or as needed
- Experience, interest, and/or interest in learning about animal rescue/welfare
Duties and Responsibilities:
Working closely with the organization’s Board of Directors and Administrative Officer, the Event Coordinator will assist in the following areas:
- Leads the planning and coordination of Free Korean Dogs’ community event initiatives
- Act as a point of contact for new and existing partners
- Solicit donations and support from local communities and businesses
- Responsible for ensuring event supplies are on-site for event day (which may include pop-up banners, leaflets, foldable tables and chairs, posters, playpens, crates, and FKD merchandise)
- Ensuring a sufficient supply of promotional inventory (i.e. postcards and leaflets)
- Coordinate with the Director of Communications regarding posters and other promotional materials
Adoption Events:
- Coordinate with pet stores and business managers to arrange event dates and time
- Coordinate with team members and volunteers for event attendance
- Coordinate with the adoption team regarding the attendance of foster and/or alumni dogs
- Coordinate logistics and other needs with attending foster families (when applicable) for available adoptable dogs
Community Social Events:
- Plan and coordinate dog-friendly events for the gathering and socialization of the Free Korean Dogs community
- Identify and/or secure locations for events
- Develop engaging themes and activities for event participants
- Identify potential new opportunities and partnerships to help grow FKD’s presence
- Build and maintain relationships with local businesses for sponsorship and prize donations

Duties and Responsibilities:
Working closely with the executive director, the community engagement coordinator enjoys socializing with local community members and making new connections. He/she will assist in the following areas:
- Identify, engage, and liaise with local community groups to promote flight volunteer opportunities for rescue dogs
- Identify effective avenues of communication for the promotion of flight volunteers
- Act as the point of contact for information and recruitment for community partners and individuals
- Build and maintain relationships with existing partners
- Identify potential new opportunities and partnerships to help grow FKD’s presence
- Provide and distribute promotional materials for community members upon request
Requirements:
- Excellent verbal and written command of the English language
- Excellent verbal and written command of the Korean language
- Excellent interpersonal skills and relationship management skills
- Comfortable and confident in soliciting new contacts and forging new relationships
- Ability to commit 3-5 hours a week
- Ability to commit on an ongoing basis
- Experience, interest, and/or interest in learning about animal rescue/welfare
