Get monthly updates about dogs like Wyn and follow their journey from suffering to a forever-loving home.

Wyn was found roaming the streets in Gyeongsangdo, Korea, last year in terrible shape. He was very skinny, with long tangled hair and covered with dirt. He was eventually picked up by animal control and sent to a high kill shelter. Thankfully, the poor little guy was saved just one day before he was supposed to be euthanized.

Wyn is currently with a foster family in Oakville, ON. His foster is a dog trainer, and reports he has settled in beautifully.

Wyn is a very affectionate boy. He loves to be around people, preferring to stay close and follow you around. He has a sweet and friendly personality and makes a great companion to hang out with. He currently lives with 2 other dogs in his foster home, who are also rescues. Wyn gets along with them, but is neutral. He is generally indifferent to other dogs, preferring the company of people.

This boy is also very smart, and has picked up new concepts and new routines easily. He will let out a bark to communicate when he wants something. For example, Wyn does not go upstairs by himself (although he can manage going down on his own, with monitoring). So, he will patiently wait at the bottom of the stairs to be carried up. (this means his future home should also be physically able to carry him up the stairs until he is comfortable enough to do so safely on his own)

Wyn is house trained, knows basic commands, and has excellent impulse control. While he does have some anxiety when left home alone or going out for a walk, he has already made a lot of progress with his training. Wyn doesn’t like loud motorcycles or when people get too close to him on a walk, and will bark at them.  However, his foster/trainer is able to redirect him quickly and easily with the help of treats. He is very food motivated which helps in his training to help him form positive associations. He is also now independent enough to hang out or sleep downstairs while his humans are upstairs and out of sight. When leaving the home, his foster tosses a treat before leaving. Wyn will let out a few barks, and then settle in.

His ideal home is with a household where people are home most of the time, in a quiet neighborhood where there are not many cars or people passing through. His adopter would ideally have the knowledge and experience to understand the root of Wyn’s insecurities and how to help him build his confidence using positive reinforcement. Wyn’s foster has also offered her help in making sure he continues to put his best paw forward in his new home.

We believe Wyn would be happiest as the only dog in the household. If there is another dog, they would be indifferent to him as well. A house with a secure yard would be beneficial, and he is a herding breed at heart.

Wyn is an adorable and sweet little love bug who is impossible not to fall in love with. His future family will be very lucky to gain him as a new family member.
