Get monthly updates about dogs like Bami and follow their journey from suffering to a forever-loving home.
Background: Bami was one of 16 dogs rescued from a severe hoarding situation. These dogs were confined in a dark basement and left neglected after the elderly owner fell ill and was hospitalized. Without anyone to care for them, they went without food or attention until a neighbor discovered them. Half of the 16 dogs have already found loving homes in Toronto and Vancouver, enjoying wonderful lives. Now, it’s Bami’s turn to find her forever family.
Personality and Socialization: Bami is a lovely, gentle girl with low to medium energy. Initially timid when rescued, she has made wonderful progress and now trusts and loves her humans. She is a gentle, submissive, and sweet dog once she feels secure. Bami tends to bond more easily with women but takes a little longer to warm up to men, especially older men. With patience, she gradually becomes more comfortable and affectionate.
Bami gets along well with other dogs, as long as they are friendly and calm. She prefers quiet, peaceful environments and can feel uneasy around bossy or overly energetic dogs. She has also been introduced to well-behaved children and has done great. Encounters with cats during walks have been positive as well.
Behavior: Bami enjoys her walks and has good leash manners. She travels well in the car for short trips but may experience some motion sickness on longer drives (over 30 minutes). Grooming is manageable—she’s okay with it and behaves well during the process. Quiet and independent, Bami shows no signs of separation anxiety.
Health and Diet: Bami was rescued with heartworms but has successfully completed treatment and is now heartworm-free. She is spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on all vaccinations. Bami also receives monthly parasite prevention. She eats dry kibble twice a day and has shown no signs of allergies.
Ideal Home: Bami would thrive in a calm, peaceful home with a gentle, patient woman who leads a relaxed lifestyle and understands how to build trust with a dog like her. A quiet neighborhood, ideally with someone who is retired or works from home, would be the perfect environment for Bami. While another gentle dog in the household would be a nice addition, it’s not a requirement. Bami is looking for a loving home where she can finally feel safe and cherished. For someone seeking a quiet, sweet, and loving companion, Bami would be a wonderful fit.
