Background: Benjamine was rescued on a freezing day in February in Dongtan, Korea. She and another dog, Shoushou, were found tied up outside, enduring harsh conditions with only scraps of leftover human food to survive on. Thankfully, Shoushou has found his forever home in Toronto, where he now lives a wonderful life. For Benjamine, the journey was a bit longer—she had heartworms when rescued, so she needed time for treatment. Now fully recovered, healthy, and heartworm-free, Benjamine is finally ready to find a family of her own. Currently, she’s staying with other dogs at our partner boarding house, where she’s proving to be a resilient and affectionate soul.

Personality and Socialization: Benjamine is a naturally charming girl with a love for people—men, women, and young adults—you name it! She’s friendly, sweet, and loves her humans. While she hasn’t been around small children or cats yet, her calm, friendly nature suggests she could adjust well. When it comes to other dogs, she’s calm and polite, whether they’re big or small, though she doesn’t engage much with more dominant personalities. She’s content to simply coexist and find her own peaceful spot.

Behaviors: Benjamine is a sweet girl who loves her toys and is comfortable being on her own, with no signs of significant separation anxiety. She prefers outdoor potty breaks and handles car rides with ease. Her gentle personality charmed the vets during her check-ups, and she’s excellent with baths. She’s also good on a leash and can’t wait to go on adventures with her forever family.

Health and Diet: Benjamine has received full health examinations and is up-to-date on all her vaccinations. After being treated for heartworm following her rescue, she’s now in great health, spayed, and microchipped. She is also on a monthly internal and external parasite prevention. So far, Benjamine hasn’t shown any signs of allergies. She eats dry food twice a day.

Ideal Home: This resilient girl is ready to be shown what a real loving home is. Benjamin loves her people so her ideal home should have someone present for most of the day, whether it’s someone who works from home or taking time off long-term such as retirement. She can be fun and energetic but also gentle and easy to care for. Her easygoing personality makes her a great fit for families looking for another fur friend but she would thrive truly where she can get all the love and attention she’s been missing in her entire life.

Benjamine is a gentle, loving, and loyal fur baby. Whoever adopts her will be incredibly lucky to have such a sweet companion.

Benjamine is available for adoption. The fee to adopt Benjamine is $780.
