Background: Dodam was found on the streets and sent to a high-kill shelter, where she endured neglect and pain. She had lower back and leg problems, but no one took care of her, and her condition worsened. Eventually, she appeared on the euthanasia list. Thankfully, kind-hearted people rescued her just in time in the summer of 2021. However, when she was taken to the vet, it was already too late for surgery to help her, and Dodam remained paralyzed in her lower body.

From July 2021 to January 2022, Dodam underwent numerous checkups and tests, including CT and MRI scans. She was diagnosed with rear limb paralysis, which is believed to be permanent due to damage to her lumbar spinal nerves. This conclusion was drawn based on changes and nerve responses observed over those six months.

Despite her challenges, Dodam has shown incredible resilience. She now uses wheels to move around when she goes outside, allowing her to enjoy life to the fullest. Dodam currently lives with a loving foster family, including two children, in a high-rise apartment. Her foster family has provided her with the care and support she needs, and Dodam has thrived under their love and attention. However, the foster cannot continue helping Dodam for personal reasons. Dodam is desperately looking for her forever home. She will be terrified if she is sent back to a shelter.

Personality and Socialization: Dodam is a gentle and sweet dog. She is very relaxed around her guardians and loves greeting them with toys when they come home. Dodam enjoys lying on mats, beds, or blankets, always showing a welcoming and friendly attitude towards her family.

She doesn’t show much interest in other dogs or cats and doesn’t approach them first. Dodam seems to prefer being the only pet in the household. She thrives in an environment where she can receive all the love and attention.

Behaviors: Dodam is a gentle and playful dog, especially good with children. She enjoys interacting with them and is always calm and kind. Indoors, she wears a diaper and is very chill and relaxed. When left alone, Dodam plays with her toys or sleeps, showing no signs of separation anxiety.

She loves car rides and outdoor activities, such as walking on trails and playing fetch. Outdoors, she is playful, happy, and thriving. Indoors, she is easy-going and content.

Due to her paralysis, Dodam needs some help with potty time. Her foster family assists her by gently applying pressure to her lower back. Other than this, Dodam is a healthy and happy dog, ready to bring joy to her forever family.

Health: Dodam is up to date on all her vaccinations and takes monthly parasite preventatives. She is microchipped, spayed, and overall healthy.

Ideal Home: An ideal home for Dodam would be with someone who can give her the dedication, love, attention, and care she needs. A family that can offer a stable environment, regular walks, and the necessary care for her specific needs would be perfect for ensuring her happiness and well-being. Dodam is a lovely girl full of energy and love to share. She has been waiting for a long time, and it would be heartbreaking if she had to go back to a shelter. She would make a wonderful furry companion.
