** Note: Jacey is seeking her forever home in the GTA! Meet her at PetSmart (158 N Queen St, Toronto) on March 29. Apply now—interviews start mid-March.

Background: Jacey was one of seven poodles found chained and neglected on a farm last fall, likely hidden away by a suspected puppy mill owner. Thankfully, she was rescued and taken to a private shelter, where she spent a few months with other dogs. Earlier this year, she moved to our boarding house and lived with other dogs. Jacey will arrive in Toronto on March 23.

Personality and Socialization: Jacey embodies the classic poodle personality—affectionate, sociable, and adaptable. She has a medium-to-high energy level and loves being around people. A true cuddle bug, Jacey isn’t shy around strangers and enjoys snuggling with her humans. She is intelligent, obedient, and gentle, with a calm and mellow nature that makes her a wonderful companion.

With other dogs, Jacey is friendly and enjoys playtime, especially with small dogs. However, when she needs a break, she prefers to rest undisturbed. She has a more confident and independent personality rather than being overly submissive. She would thrive best as the only dog in a quiet home where she can fully relax without being bothered by other dogs.

Behaviour: Jacey is well-behaved in the car, during baths, and at vet visits. She is generally quiet but will bark a little during mealtime, expressing her excitement. She has limited leash-walking experience but follows her human well and is eager to learn. Overall, she is a friendly and affectionate girl who adjusts well to new environments.

Health and Diet: Jacey is spayed, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. She takes monthly parasite preventatives, and all her parasite tests, including heartworm, came back negative (she had heartworm treatments previously). She eats dry kibble twice a day and has shown no signs of allergies.

Ideal Home: Jacey thrives in the company of people, making her an ideal match for a family where someone is home most of the time—whether retired or working from home. While she enjoys playing with other dogs, she would be happiest as the only dog so she can fully relax in a peaceful environment. Jacey is a loving, snuggly sweetheart who will bring endless joy to whoever is lucky enough to adopt her.
