Get monthly updates about dogs like Jaelong and follow their journey from suffering to a forever-loving home.
Jaelong was rescued from the Dangjin dog meat farm shutdown of 2018, and the assumed brother of Jennifer. They were found in the same kennel at the farm, and continue to share a kennel at our partner boarding house where they currently reside post-rescue.

Like his sister, Jaelong is very skittish around humans, essentially unapproachable and unable to be touched. This has presented significant difficulties for his care – more than most – as the inability to handle him has made it nearly impossible to navigate his persistent health issues. Jaelong is given a tranquilizer in his food in order to conduct medical exams which are difficult even then.
In the past 2 years, Jaelong has been obsessively licking his legs, at one point so severely it wore down through his skin and almost exposed his bone. Due to the difficulty of diagnosing his condition and getting to the root of the problem, treatment has been a trial-and-error journey, experimenting with medications that both seek to address physiological issues and rule out psychological concerns. Unfortunately, progress has been dismal with only short-term or little improvement. It has been a process of trialing different medications under the care of different veterinary professionals.
Jaelong’s Sponsorship Needs
Medical Diagnosis
Sponsoring Jaelong gives us the hope we can finally determine the root cause of his obsessive licking and provide him the treatment needed to be comfortable at last.
Treatment Medication
Whether long or short-term, Jaelong will require medication to treat his symptoms. If his condition is not curable, he will require lifelong medication to manage and keep him comfortable.
Training Needs
We also hope that some professional-led training will provide Jaelong with the confidence to at least be approached and handled by humans, something that has been a significant obstacle to his medical care, and something he has sadly not been afforded since his rescue. Please help us give Jaelong the gift of hope.
