Background: Jelly is one of the 21 brave dogs rescued from a dog meat farm in Anseong, Korea in spring. He lived with other dogs at our partner boarding house until he left Korea. Currently, he lives in his foster home in Toronto, ON.

Personality and Socialization: Jelly earned his sweet name because he truly embodies it. With his loyal, friendly, and affectionate nature, Jelly loves being around his people and will follow them everywhere, keeping a close eye to ensure they are always in sight. He is a huge cuddle bug and loves to shower you with affection, and listens intently when you are talking to him.

While he gets along with other dogs and currently lives with his foster brother, he can sometimes get jealous (especially during new introductions). He thrives best as the only dog in the home. Jelly gets nervous around children and needs slow introductions with them. He has not been introduced to cats. Jelly loves to play with toys. He does a funny thing where he jumps on them like a fox jumping on a mouse under the snow.

Behaviours: Despite his young age, Jelly is a fast learner. His food motivation and eagerness to please also help greatly with training. He has learned to sit, lie down, and be still while his foster trims his nails. He also knows how to put his chin in a hand and is learning how to smile and hold a treat on the bridge of his nose.

Jelly is house-trained and will let you know when he needs to go outside to potty by patiently sitting in front of you and staring into your eyes. Once he has your attention, he will lead you to the door to be let out into the backyard. In the mornings, he will gently nudge you to know he is ready to go out. He sleeps through the night with no issues.

Owing to his quick learning skills, Jelly has excellent leash skills. After only 6 times out with his foster, he stays on her left side and walks in a perfect heel position. When his foster brother is out for his walk, he waits patiently at the front window waiting for them to get back.

Health and Diet: Jelly is neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on his vaccinations. He takes monthly preventatives for both internal and external parasites and enjoys a diet of kibble twice a day, with no known allergies so far. This healthy boy is ready and eager to find his forever home.

Ideal Home: Jelly would do best with someone who has experience with dogs and knows how to communicate with them. He would be happiest as the only dog in the home, where he can receive all the love and won’t feel the need to compete for attention. He would also require a home where people are around more often than not, as he does not like to be separated from his humans for a long time.

A perfect match for Jelly would be someone who loves spending quality time with their dog and is excited to continue guiding and learning alongside him. In return, they’ll be rewarded with Jelly’s sweet, loving, and loyal companionship, along with his unwavering affection and loyalty.
