Background: Schumann’s story is one of resilience and courage. He was rescued from a city pound in Chuncheon, Korea, as part of our “Save 100 Dogs” project. Sadly, while there, Schumann was attacked by another dog, leaving his eye severely injured and untreated. After being rescued, he underwent surgery to remove the damaged eye. Despite the trauma he endured, Schumann’s cheerful and loving nature never faltered—he has amazed us all with his strength and positivity. Currently, he lives in a foster home in Vancouver, BC.

Personality and Socialization: Schumann is a true sweetheart. He’s affectionate, friendly, and loves nothing more than spending time with his humans. This little guy is a lapdog through and through—snuggly, smart, and loyal. Schumann is bold and confident, even around larger dogs, and gets along well with his canine friends. Though he hasn’t been introduced to cats or young children, his gentle and sociable nature suggests he could adapt with proper introductions.

Behaviour: Schumann is eager to learn and please his humans. He picks up commands quickly and is well-behaved indoors—quiet and non-destructive. While he prefers outdoor potty breaks, he’s also comfortable using pee pads if necessary. He’s a champ in the car, enjoys baths, and is gaining confidence with leash walking. Following his trusted humans on outdoor adventures is one of his favorite things to do.

Health and Diet: Schumann is neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. He takes monthly parasite prevention and has tested negative for heartworm. Schumann has a hint of cataracts in his left eye. At the moment, no medication or treatment is required as it is still in its very early phase. Cataracts are a common condition in dogs, and many live perfectly happy, healthy lives with them. Regular check-ups and preventive care, like eye drops to slow the progression, can be helpful on the way. Schumann has also completed his dental work including scaling. He is now in good shape and has no major health concerns. Overall, Schumann is healthy, happy, and absolutely ready to find his forever home!

Schumann eats dry kibble twice a day and has no known allergies.

Ideal Home: Schumann has endured so much but remains a loving and devoted companion. His happiest moments are spent with his humans, so an ideal home would be with someone who works from home or is retired and has plenty of time to shower him with affection. If you’re looking for a loyal, cuddly fur baby who will brighten your days, Schumann could be the perfect match.

Schumann is available for adoption. The fee to adopt Schumann is $280.

Note: US adopters are responsible for customs clearance fee, which is approximately $140 USD.
