Background: Yuna was rescued in April 2024 in Gapyeong, Korea. She spent her days tied to a tree with a short rope, surrounded by dust and dirt from nearby construction. Her first owner, a senior, was hospitalized, leaving Yuna in the care of the owner’s family, who unfortunately neglected her.

The most challenging part of Yuna’s life was the isolation—being left alone with no human interaction. When volunteers visited, Yuna was so happy. Unlike most dogs, Yuna wasn’t drawn to food but to the people who came to see her. She refused to eat until she was greeted and reassured. It took weeks of persuasion for the family to surrender her. Now she lives in a foster home.

Socialization and Personality: Yuna is a calm, independent soul with a medium energy level. She has a heartwarming smile that reveals her gentle nature. While she cherishes her quiet time, she enjoys affection and will approach you for gentle pats when she’s ready. Yuna is gentle and friendly toward people and polite when meeting other dogs, though she prefers calm, well-mannered canine companions. Energetic or overly playful dogs can make her anxious. When she encounters cats on the streets, most of the time she is indifferent and just walks away.

Behaviours: Yuna loves her walks, especially exploring and sniffing new scents. She may pull on the leash initially but quickly settles into a steady pace. She is quiet and independent, with no signs of separation anxiety. She’s house-trained, reliably using a pee pad indoors or going outside. She doesn’t bark or react to doorbells or noises outside. She is startled by sudden movements or loud noises, especially from children. Initially nervous, Yuna has grown more comfortable with car rides, especially when accompanied by people. While initially hesitant, Yuna has grown accustomed to grooming, including having her paws cleaned.

Health and Diet: Yuna is in good health, having been spayed, microchipped, treated for heartworm, and had her teeth scaled. She is currently eating Royal Canin kibble and enjoys chicken breast and jerky snacks. While she doesn’t care for vegetables, she’s happy with meat-based treats or homemade snacks. Yuna has no known allergies.

Ideal Home: Yuna would thrive in a calm home in a quiet neighborhood. Someone who lives a relaxing lifestyle and spends a lot of time at home would be ideal. She would do well either as the only dog or as a second dog, provided the other dog is calm and gentle. Yuna gets scared of bossy or hyper dogs, as well as puppies with too much energy. For someone retired and looking for a calm, gentle, and independent fur baby, Yuna is the perfect match. Yuna’s forever family will need patience to help her continue building confidence and show her the love and kindness she deserves. In return, they’ll gain a loyal and sweet companion who will brighten their days with her gentle spirit.

Yuna is available for adoption. The fee to adopt Yuna is $780.

Note: US adopters are responsible for customs clearance fee, which is approximately $140 USD.
